XSquawkBox 2.0beta6 Released

This release incorporates a number of bugfixes for new bugs discovered in the beta5 cycle. XSquawkBox 2.0 beta 6 expires on 1 April 2020.

Most significant in beta6 is a bugfix for issues with voice when HF aliasing is in use (typically for Oceanic control), and a fix for voice ceasing to work when the voice server times out.

XSquawkBox 2.0beta5 Released

hotfix 1 has been released to address the AVX dependency bug creeping back in again due to my slipping up with merging the hotfix from the last release.

This release incorporates a number of bugfixes for new bugs discovered late in the beta4 cycle. XSquawkBox 2.0 beta 5 expires on 1 March 2020.

As the beta is quite stable now, I’ve withdrawn 1.3.3 from the website to eliminate confusion over XSquawkBox’s support for AFV arising from this old version still being in distribution.

About the XSquawkBox/VATSIM X-Plane Simulation Rate Enforcement

Introduction 

I’ve written this article to explain a bit about the simulation rate enforcement decision, how it came to be, and the goals and theory of operation of the actual mechanism as implemented in XSquawkBox and other clients that use the XSquawkBox detection algorithm. 

I’m also going to briefly touch on the alternate plans I considered, and where possible, why I didn’t follow through with them.
